Warm Winter, Let's Go to Gwangju to Eat Strawberries... Harvest Experience Program

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 18th that it will operate a strawberry harvesting experience program for strawberry farms where harvesting experiences are possible this winter.

Gwangju City's Susurak strawberries have been branded since 2017, striving for uniform product production, and in 2019 received certification for using the city's representative agricultural product brand, Jayeonchae. Based on this, various sales activities are conducted, including strawberry harvesting experiences, direct farm sales, Jayeonchae Food Farm Center, and local food direct stores.

The farms operating the strawberry harvesting experience include Haneul Ae Strawberry Farm, Goun Farm, Ultra Farm (all in Gonjiam-eup), Matdanya Farm, Yulbom Agricultural Arts Center, Seongin Farm, Tteul Farm (all in Toechon-myeon), Supsoge Strawberry Farm, Hyanga Strawberry Farm, Jumong Farm (all in Namjong-myeon), Adtal Farm, Hyeil Farm (both in Dongji area), and Cheongpo Farm (in Namhansanseong-myeon), totaling 13 locations. The experience period is scheduled from December this year to May next year.

The strawberry harvesting experience costs 25,000 KRW for adults and 22,000 KRW for children based on 500g. Before starting the experience, participants can listen to explanations from the producing farm, and each farm operates different experiential learning programs.

A representative from the Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center stated, “Through this year's pilot project, a new variety called Geumsil was introduced, allowing consumers to experience the two flavors of Seolhyang and Geumsil at once at some farms.” They added, “We plan to further expand the experience farms to provide the fun of harvesting fresh and high-quality strawberries directly, and we hope many consumers will take advantage of this.”
