The idling crackdown is carried out using smartphone thermal cameras capable of detecting exhaust gas heat. Compliance with the idling time limit (5 minutes) is checked, and vehicles exceeding the limit receive a prior warning; if the violation continues, a fine of 50,000 KRW is imposed.

As a result of the inspection, the city issued guidance to two vehicles that exceeded the idling time limit and removed one location confirmed to be closed from the idling restriction areas.

For 16 locations where the idling restriction signs are either outdated or not installed, reinstallation and new installation are planned for the first half of next year.

Kim Bo-kyung, Director of the Climate and Energy Division, stated, “We will continue to enforce idling restrictions to reduce fine dust, and we ask citizens to refrain from idling as much as possible and actively cooperate in reducing fine dust.”
