Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Holds the 268th Busan Economic Forum

Mayor Park Hyung-jun's Special Lecture on 'Vision and Strategy of Busan as a Global Hub City'... Over 200 Local Businesspeople Attend

The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Yang Jae-saeng) held the 268th Busan Economic Forum on the morning of the 18th at 7 a.m. at the Busan Lotte Hotel under the theme "Vision and Strategy of Busan as a Global Hub City."

About 200 people attended today's forum, including Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Yang Jae-saeng, Chairmen Song Gyu-jeong and Shin Jeong-taek, senior figures from the local economy, major business leaders, heads of institutions, and forum members.

Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, who gave the lecture, pointed out the overcrowding phenomenon concentrated in the metropolitan area under the theme "Vision and Strategy of Busan as a Global Hub City," and explained Busan's vision and the necessity of becoming a global hub city by dividing the direction Busan should take into four areas: logistics, advanced industries, financial startups, talent, and cultural tourism.

Through his lecture, Mayor Park Hyung-joon emphasized, "Busan as a global hub city is a new growth engine for South Korea that overcomes the unipolarism of the metropolitan area and an innovative balanced development strategy. We will do our best to fully leverage Busan's strengths and potential to leap forward as a hub city."

Yang Jae-saeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in his greeting, "Due to the chaotic domestic and international situation, it is not easy to even establish plans for 2025, but the vision of Busan as a global hub city must not be shaken. I hope that through today's lecture, local businesspeople will take the lead in sharing the mayor's vision and insights well to lay the groundwork for the re-advancement of the Busan economy."

Kim Dong-geon, CEO of Donghwa Entech, said, "After listening to the mayor's lecture today, I feel that my perspective on Busan's future and vision has broadened significantly, and it was a good lecture that gave us direction and determination on what local businesspeople need to prepare for Busan in the future."
