Kumho Petrochemical announced on the 18th that it has been included in the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) Korea index for the third consecutive year.
The DJSI Korea index, published by S&P Global, the world's largest financial information provider, is an indicator that reflects a company's excellent sustainability management capabilities based on not only economic performance but also environmental, social, and governance (ESG) achievements. Among the top 200 companies in Korea, only the top 30% of companies with outstanding ESG management, selected through evaluation, are eligible for inclusion in the index.
This year, Kumho Petrochemical received recognition across various areas: in the ESG sector, achievements focused on governance improvements such as ▲strengthening disclosure of directors and board information and ▲conducting safety and health consulting and ESG due diligence for partner companies; in the environmental sector, ▲conducting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and ▲introducing an internal carbon pricing (ICP) system; and in the social sector, strengthening family-friendly welfare programs such as ‘Kumho-CARE,’ which has been implemented since January this year.
Along with its third consecutive inclusion, Kumho Petrochemical’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score steadily increased from 50 points in 2022 to 66 points last year and 68 points this year, drawing attention. Based on the excellent performance shown last year, Kumho Petrochemical was also selected as a member of the Sustainability Yearbook 2024.
Jonghoon Baek, CEO of Kumho Petrochemical, commented on this achievement, saying, "It is the result of continuous efforts to advance our ESG policies," and added, "Through ongoing review and improvement, we will continue to grow into a model company leading the industry."
Meanwhile, Kumho Petrochemical has been continuously carrying out comprehensive ESG activities, including publishing the ‘Sustainability Management Report 2023’ in June, which covers the integrated ESG performance of its affiliates and expands the disclosure of common information indicators.
