Jung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, is set to meet Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump, in the United States.
According to business circles, Chairman Jung will stay for one night and two days from the 17th to the 19th (local time) at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where President-elect Trump’s residence is located.
This visit to the U.S. was arranged at the invitation of Trump Jr. (46), and it is said that the schedule was set several months ago. Chairman Jung and Trump Jr. are known to have a close relationship, almost like sworn brothers. This will be their fourth meeting this year alone.
Trump Jr. has visited Korea three times this year, officially or unofficially, to meet Chairman Jung. Chairman Jung is expected to spend considerable time with Trump Jr. at Mar-a-Lago, discussing various topics including business.
There is also a possibility that Chairman Jung will meet President-elect Trump and his wife, Melania, through Trump Jr.’s introduction. It is currently known that President-elect Trump is also staying at Mar-a-Lago.
On the 19th, Trump plans to hold a dinner event at Mar-a-Lago with donors who have paid large entrance fees. The event is hosted by 'MAGA' (Make America Great Again), the support organization for President-elect Trump.
If Chairman Jung actually meets with President-elect Trump, it will be the first meeting between a domestic business leader and the U.S. president-elect since the U.S. presidential election.
