BPA Joint Campaign for the 6th Seasonal Fine Dust Management Promotion

Busan Port Authority (BPA) conducted a joint campaign titled "This Winter, Busan Port Takes Action for Blue Skies Again!" on the 16th at Yongdang Nateureok House, in collaboration with Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, and Busan Metropolitan City, to respond to the government's 6th Seasonal Fine Dust Management Plan.

Since 2019, the government (Ministry of Environment) has implemented a seasonal management system every winter (December to March of the following year) to reduce fine dust, and this year marks the 6th iteration.

During the joint campaign, BPA and partner organizations informed truck drivers and others about the government's seasonal management policies, including restrictions on the operation of Grade 5 vehicles and support projects for low-emission measures on old vehicles, and conducted free vehicle emission inspections.

Additionally, in connection with the joint campaign, they inspected dusty cargo handling and unloading sites within Busan Port and discussed cooperation measures among related agencies to reduce fine dust at Busan Port.

During the 6th seasonal management period, BPA plans to inspect the operation status of dust prevention and watering facilities at dusty cargo handling piers twice a month, and actively promote compliance with speed limits for vehicles entering the port as well as seasonal management publicity activities.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, stated, "We will actively respond to the government's fine dust seasonal management policy to improve the working environment for port workers and do our best to reduce fine dust at Busan Port during the winter season."
