[Breaking] Hong Nampyo, Changwon Special Mayor, Found "Guilty" in Second Trial

Hong Nampyo, the mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, who was prosecuted for violating the Public Official Election Act, was sentenced to 6 months in prison with a 1-year probation in the second trial.


The Criminal Division 1 of the Changwon Branch of the Busan High Court delivered a guilty verdict to Mayor Hong on the afternoon of the 18th.

Mayor Hong was prosecuted on charges of conspiring with Mr. A, who was the general election campaign headquarters chief during last year's nationwide simultaneous local elections, to promise a public office to Mr. B, who intended to run in the People Power Party's Changwon mayoral primary, urging him to join the campaign.


Previously, the prosecution requested the court to sentence Mayor Hong to 8 months in prison, Mr. A to 8 months in prison, and Mr. B to 4 months in prison.
