At the meeting, after starting with a report on the current population status and the progress of population policy promotion, the direction for the 'Study on Establishing the Basic Population Policy Plan for Hwaseong Special City (2026?2030)' was explained, and advisory opinions from the committee were collected. The study aims to respond to changes in the population structure due to low birth rates and aging and to establish a sustainable mid- to long-term population policy reflecting regional population characteristics. The Hwaseong City Research Institute will conduct the study from January to December next year.

The city plans to discover and promote sustainable population policies by presenting the vision, goals, and mid- to long-term roadmap of population policy through the establishment of the basic population policy plan.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "Although Hwaseong City ranks first nationwide in the number of births, it is necessary to proactively respond to the inverted pyramid-shaped population structure change and promote sustainable population policies tailored to the characteristics of each region. We will strive to devise population policy measures that promote sustainable development and that citizens can feel."

Meanwhile, this year the city is implementing projects with a population policy budget of approximately 34.3 billion KRW across 29 projects in four policy areas: ▲ Hwaseong, good for having and raising children ▲ Hwaseong, full of youthful vitality ▲ Hwaseong, secure in old age ▲ Hwaseong, giving pride.

To encourage childbirth, the city is promoting support for health checkups for prospective newlyweds and medical expenses for pregnant women. In addition, to create a stable childcare environment, the city is expanding and operating shared care centers and time-based childcare support projects. To prepare for the aging era, lifelong education for the elderly and elderly health promotion projects are also being promoted.
