Building Owners and Others Suffer Fire Damage but Receive No Compensation
A fire broke out in a parked Porsche vehicle in Songpa-gu, Seoul, causing damage to nearby restaurants and building owners. However, a woman presumed to be the car owner reportedly left the vehicle unattended, citing a "flight schedule" as the reason.
On the 16th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' (Incident Chief) revealed a report that a woman abandoned a burned vehicle in a cafe parking lot and left.
The informant, Mr. A, is a building owner in the so-called 'Songridan-gil,' a dense area of cafes and restaurants in Songpa-gu. He claimed that a fire broke out in a Porsche parked in the first-floor parking lot of his building under his name, causing damage, but he has yet to receive any compensation.

At the time of the incident, restaurant customers on the second floor of the building evacuated urgently due to the fire, and the restaurant suffered property damage estimated at about 7 million KRW. Additionally, the building's parking lot and underground entrance reportedly sustained damage requiring restoration work.
While investigating the cause of the fire, Mr. A and others discovered the burning Porsche vehicle on the parking lot's closed-circuit television (CCTV). Footage showed a woman dressed in an airline crew uniform attempting to start the burning vehicle or fetching water from the building's cafe to pour on the car.
The woman packed items such as a carry-on suitcase from the car and left the scene, returning a few minutes later. She took photos of the vehicle with her mobile phone before disappearing. Shortly after, red flames rose from the vehicle.
Regarding this, Mr. A stated, "This woman disappeared even after seeing smoke rising from the vehicle." However, the woman reportedly explained that she left before the smoke appeared and was unaware that the fire had started.
After the fire, Mr. A also said that a man, not the woman, came claiming to be the "vehicle occupant" and attempted to tow the car. Mr. A blocked him, saying "there is no vehicle registration," and after questioning him, obtained the woman's contact information.
However, the woman who was contacted reportedly claimed, "I am a crew member and had a flight schedule. There was no substitute, so I had no choice," and she reported the incident to the police and 119 emergency services before leaving the scene, Mr. A added.
Mr. A tried to discuss compensation methods in the future, but the woman reportedly responded, "You are being too harsh, so I am mentally distressed," "I am also upset because I have to scrap the car," and "If you want, file a report at the police station. I will undergo a proper investigation."
Mr. A said, "We still do not know who the car owner is. Ultimately, last week, I called a tow truck and the police alone to remove the car," adding, "A flight attendant responsible for the safety of hundreds of passengers must have received training for accidents, but showing such irresponsibility and lack of morality is appalling. I will file a complaint for the crime of neglect of duty."
