Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do), Department of Emergency Medical Services (Head of Department Park Young-soo), held the '9th Star of Life Academic Festival' on the 6th.
This academic festival was organized to help EMS students cultivate the academic knowledge and practical field skills required as professional emergency medical technicians and to develop their ability to respond to various emergency medical situations.
In particular, through this academic festival, students had the opportunity to strengthen their practical emergency medical field response skills by participating in scenario presentations and case conferences based on actual cases, moving beyond theory-based learning.
About 130 participants, including EMS students, faculty members, and external emergency medical experts, attended the event, which featured diverse programs such as ▲scenario presentations ▲special lectures ▲case conferences ▲awards ceremonies, providing opportunities to enhance field response capabilities and expertise through practice-oriented presentations and discussions.
The special lecture conducted by EMS technician Kim Geon-nam from Chonnam National University Hospital left a deep impression on the students and enhanced their understanding of real emergency medical field situations.
A student who participated in the academic festival said, “Through analyzing various emergency situations and discussing solutions in the case conference, I learned a lot,” and added, “The academic festival allowed me to once again reflect on the roles and responsibilities as an emergency medical technician.”
Kim Geon-nam, the special lecturer from Chonnam National University Hospital, said, “It was a very meaningful time to share practical emergency medical field cases with the students and discuss the roles and importance of emergency medical technicians at this academic festival,” and added, “I was impressed by the passion and participation of students aspiring to grow as EMS professionals, and I hope such academic exchanges will become more active in the future.”
The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology achieved a 100% pass rate on the national qualification exam for all graduates this year, and continues to focus on strengthening major courses tailored to field duties and developing curricula through collaboration with field experts, aiming to nurture emergency medical professionals.
