Chungnam National University Signs Agreement to Establish and Operate International Agricultural Technology Education Center

Buyeo-gun in South Chungcheong Province, where 35% of its 60,000 residents are engaged in agriculture, has been leading the way in raising the value of the Goodtrae brand and increasing farmers' income by establishing overseas agricultural infrastructure since County Governor Park Jeong-hyun took office.

To ensure stable income for farmers struggling with rising production costs, abnormal weather, and natural disasters, Buyeo-gun has established overseas farming complexes.

According to the county on the 17th, it is supporting Goodtrae agricultural products produced in Uzbekistan to enter the European market, thereby enhancing the value of the Goodtrae brand and helping local farmers gain competitiveness in the global market.

To this end, the county has established a rice cultivation pilot complex and a specialized mass-production seed potato complex in Namangan, Uzbekistan this year, and has transferred agricultural techniques.

Additionally, the county plans to expand the specialized complex to lay the foundation for local farmers to engage in overseas farming.

As a result of these achievements, Buyeo-gun won the Grand Prize at the '2024 Local Diplomacy Best Practices' contest hosted by the National Association of Governors on the 13th.

Furthermore, on the 11th, the county signed a memorandum of understanding with Chungnam National University to establish and operate an International Agricultural Technology Training Center.

The center will be responsible for providing agricultural technology training to foreign trainees and securing agricultural manpower. By developing cutting-edge agricultural technology, it aims to address regional population decline and increase the resident population by attracting more young people.

County Governor Park Jeong-hyun said, "We will continue our efforts to pioneer new markets through overseas agriculture, increase farmers' income, and revitalize the local economy."
