First Press Conference After Presidential Election Victory
Analysis of Cooperation in Illegal Immigration Deportation Compensation
Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, announced on the 16th (local time) that he is considering pardoning Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, who has been indicted on charges including illegal campaign finance violations.
On the same day, Trump held a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where his residence is located, and said, "I think he has been treated quite unfairly."
He added, "I haven't fully looked into the seriousness of it yet, but as you know, just like he received an airplane seat upgrade a few years ago, probably everyone here has received an upgrade."
Mayor Adams was indicted without detention in September by the Manhattan Federal District Prosecutor's Office on five criminal charges including electronic financial fraud, bribery, and illegal campaign fundraising. Among his charges are allegations that he received various free round-trip overseas flight upgrades, business class tickets, and discounted hotel stays from the Turkish government. It is reported that the amount of money and goods received exceeds $100,000.
Earlier, Mayor Adams met with Tom Homan, who was recently appointed as the 'Border Czar' in Trump's second administration, and pledged cooperation in deporting illegal immigrants. This has led some to analyze that Trump is considering a pardon for Mayor Adams as a reward for actively aligning with his policies.
