Government to Hold Interim Cabinet Meeting This Week... Review of Veto on Contentious Bills Yonhap News

The government plans to convene an extraordinary Cabinet meeting this week to deliberate on exercising its veto power regarding six bills, including the Grain Management Act, which were unilaterally passed by the opposition party.


On the 16th, a government official stated, "At tomorrow's scheduled Cabinet meeting, the submission of these bills will be postponed."


Previously, on the 28th of last month, the opposition party forcibly passed amendments to four agricultural laws?the Grain Management Act, the Act on Distribution and Price Stabilization of Agricultural and Fishery Products, the Agricultural and Fishery Disaster Countermeasures Act, and the Agricultural and Fishery Disaster Insurance Act?as well as amendments to the National Assembly Act and the National Assembly Testimony and Inspection Act during a plenary session of the National Assembly.


The deadline for the government to exercise its veto power on these bills, which were transmitted to the government on the 6th, is the 21st of this month.
