Kim Hong-il, Former Broadcasting Commissioner, Appointed as Chief of Yoon's Legal Team
Former Broadcasting and Communications Commission Chairman Kim Hong-il has been appointed as the chief of President Yoon Suk-yeol's legal defense team. It is expected that a large number of prosecutors-turned-lawyers who are close to President Yoon will be included in the presidential legal defense team, centered around former Chairman Kim.
According to the legal community on the 16th, the side of President Yoon's legal defense team stated, "(Regarding the composition of the legal defense team besides former Chairman Kim) the internal position is still being organized," while announcing the appointment of former Chairman Kim as the head of the legal defense team.
Former Chairman Kim served as the chairman of the Special Committee for Investigating Political Manipulation during Yoon Suk-yeol's last presidential campaign. After President Yoon's inauguration, he consecutively served as the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and the Broadcasting and Communications Commission. He completed his term as Broadcasting and Communications Commission Chairman in July of this year and returned to the law firm Sejong at the end of October. It is reported that he verbally expressed his intention to resign to Sejong earlier this month.
