The 2025 New Year calendar produced by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) is gaining popularity along with the superstition that it "increases financial luck."

According to KOMSCO on the 16th, the corporation produces a New Year calendar every year that combines its identity as a currency manufacturing institution with money, a symbol of luck. The 2025 New Year calendar produced this year features images of actual banknotes and coins. It includes various currency images from the 50,000 won bill to coins and commemorative coins, giving the impression that money is almost within reach.

Woo Jin-gu, head of KOMSCO’s Public Relations Office, explained, "This year, we produced about 16,000 copies and distributed them free of charge to major related organizations and affiliates," adding, "Due to the favorable response, we are considering producing a small additional quantity."

Amid ongoing economic difficulties caused by recent high inflation and high interest rates, interest in the calendar is growing even more with the added superstition that "hanging a money calendar brings money in." Posts seeking KOMSCO calendars have been continuously posted on secondhand trading platforms. Messages such as "Looking for the KOMSCO calendar known as a lucky calendar. I will match the price as much as possible" and "Buying KOMSCO calendar. I want to have a big hit this year" are appearing.

Sung Chang-hoon, president of KOMSCO, said, "I am pleased that the calendar has become a medium that delivers luck and hope to the public beyond simply recording schedules," and added, "We will continue to come up with various ideas that can provide positive value to the public as a public institution."
