Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myung Hyun-kwan) is implementing measures to revitalize the local community amid national emergencies and a prolonged economic downturn that have caused difficulties in the regional economy.

On the 16th, Governor Myung Hyun-kwan held a policy briefing and ordered the implementation of various policies to restore the livelihood economy and boost the economy of small business owners and small and medium-sized enterprises.

At the briefing, considering the worsening livelihood economy due to economic difficulties, 69 measures to revitalize the local economy were discussed. In particular, in addition to the key local economic revitalization measures to be promoted next year, policies that can be immediately applied will be implemented in December to actively create an atmosphere that does not miss the opportunity to stimulate the economy during the year-end and New Year holidays.

To this end, public officials will take the lead in actively participating in tangible economic activities such as promoting the use of local stores, revitalizing social economy enterprises, promoting traditional markets, and using SNS. In addition, a Livelihood Recovery Emergency Measures Council involving private, public, and media sectors within the jurisdiction will be formed to expand cooperation for local economic revitalization.

To stimulate the private economy, the rapid execution rate in the first half of next year will be increased to 65% of the target amount, and the public sector will take the lead in early project implementation.

Governor Myung said, “Given the challenging domestic and international economic conditions, it is judged that the public sector must play a leading role to stimulate the economy early.” He added, “Despite the difficulties of COVID-19, we have overcome crises with the unique strength of ‘Haenam strong in the economy,’ and we will overcome this crisis together with the residents.”
