Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo emphasized the need for swift execution of livelihood budgets and the inclusion of increased budget projects in the government's first supplementary budget proposal to minimize the contraction of the local economy caused by the passage of President Yoon Sukyeol's impeachment motion.

At the weekly staff meeting he presided over on the 16th, Mayor Lee stated, "Since the local economic situation is not favorable, small business owners and the self-employed are inevitably facing significant difficulties," and instructed, "Execute the confirmed budget swiftly so that it can be of help to small business owners and citizens."

He continued, "The most important thing is to ensure the stability of Daejeon and the uninterrupted daily lives of citizens," adding, "When a crisis strikes, people look to their leaders, and many cities are judged by how composed and orderly they are. Please make every effort to ensure that there are no difficulties for ordinary people and the local economy in Daejeon, without a single error."

Regarding pending projects, he ordered, "Projects such as the creation of a webtoon cluster and the construction of the Hanbat Bridge-Sajeong Bridge were progressing well, with budget increases reflected during the National Assembly's review. However, as the government budget has been reduced due to national political turmoil, thoroughly prepare so that the reduced projects can be included in the government's first supplementary budget proposal."

Mayor Lee said, "Consumer sentiment has been greatly dampened, and many restaurant reservations for the year-end and New Year have been canceled," and added, "Daejeon city officials must maintain their usual routines, such as holding year-end parties as planned, to protect the local commercial district and support the economy of ordinary citizens."

Mayor Lee Jangwoo also emphasized, "The dignity of public officials must be further strengthened," and requested, "Establish a thorough pre-management system to prevent crowd accidents that may occur during Christmas and sunrise events, and make every effort to ensure citizen safety through even more meticulous winter disaster safety management."
