Jeju Local Figures: Success Stories of 11 Entrepreneurs Revealed

The Jeju Regional Innovation Platform (hereinafter Jeju RIS) University Education Innovation Headquarters (Head Kim Daeyoung) announced on the 16th that the relay lecture series featuring distinguished speakers, held from October 31 to December 5, was successfully concluded.
This lecture series was conducted based on Jeju RIS's educational vision, "JOY Sharing University Leading Jeju for Everyone, and Everyone's Value," inviting 11 local distinguished figures who have preserved Jeju's identity and achieved success in various fields. The participating speakers shared their settlement experiences in Jeju and success stories, providing practical advice on employment and entrepreneurship concerns for young people.
The lectures featured prominent figures representing various fields, including ▲ YouTube creator and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province ambassador ‘Mworenghaman’ ▲ CEO Kim Jonghyun of Seomida LLC ▲ CEO Kim Heonseong of Jungmun Seaside Aden ▲ CEO Boo Seonghoon of Make a Better ▲ CEO Lee Geumjae of Ilowa Jeju ▲ CEO Kim Youngnam of Gimyung Maze Park ▲ CEO Cho Namhee of Parang Factory ▲ CEO Jeon Ahhyun of Fortuna ▲ CEO Jo Inrae of Lallal Gogo ▲ CEO Ahn Eunju of Jeju Olle ▲ and Yang Hongseok of Cocori. Based on their experiences, they shared various know-how needed by young people, such as successful cases using Jeju as content, business settlement processes overcoming regional limitations, and the importance of mentors in entrepreneurship, eliciting strong empathy.
In particular, Boo Seonghoon, CEO of Make a Better, which operates the native Jeju cafe brands About and Roost Place, gained great sympathy from students and residents by sharing realistic advice during the startup process and corporate growth goals. Additionally, Jeju Olle CEO Ahn Eunju’s special lecture "We Walk" was a unique time to reflect on Jeju’s value while walking the Olle Trail together, receiving praise for awakening pride as Jeju residents among attendees.
About 300 students and residents from Jeju participated in this lecture series, seeking new visions for youth career exploration and regional settlement possibilities. One attendee said, “The sincere stories told by the distinguished speakers and their success journeys based on Jeju showed hope and potential beyond trial and error,” adding, “The speakers’ genuine lectures provided an opportunity to view Jeju from a new perspective.”
Through this relay lecture series, Jeju RIS provided practical directions for entrepreneurship and career exploration to local youth and contributed to creating conditions for regional settlement. Furthermore, ideas discovered through the lectures are expected to become an important foundation for regional industrial development.
Kim Daeyoung, head of the Jeju RIS University Education Innovation Headquarters, stated, “This lecture series was a place where distinguished figures who succeeded based on Jeju’s value and young people shared empathy and visions,” adding, “We plan to continue operating various programs so that local youth can settle and grow in the community.”
