At the meeting, various measures to stabilize people’s livelihoods and revitalize the local economy were discussed in depth, along with establishing discipline within the public service and safety management plans for the year-end and New Year period.
Gwangju City plans to vigorously promote local economic revitalization measures to support small business owners and self-employed individuals, while also proceeding with city-hosted and organized events planned for the year-end and New Year period as usual to stimulate consumption within the region.
Additionally, the city announced it will strengthen proactive disaster response measures against cold waves and heavy snowfall to prevent citizen safety accidents, enhance fire prevention activities focused on multi-use facilities, and establish and intensively support an emergency welfare service system for vulnerable groups.
Furthermore, to prevent any cases of public service discipline lapses such as incidents or accidents involving public officials during the year-end and New Year period, thorough efforts will be made to establish public service discipline through education and special inspections. The city will also do its best to prepare for emergencies by establishing an emergency response reporting system, including building an organic communication network with higher authorities and maintaining an emergency contact network.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “I hope for unwavering city administration operation by public officials to prevent any confusion among citizens or administrative gaps, and we will mobilize all administrative and financial resources to fully commit to stabilizing people’s livelihoods and revitalizing the economy to overcome this crisis.”
Meanwhile, under close cooperation with Gyeonggi Province, Gwangju City plans to swiftly implement measures in four areas?local administration, regional economy, vulnerable groups, and safety management?centered on the regional livelihood stabilization task force (led by Vice Mayor Kim Chung-beom), which was formed on the 10th, to promote the stabilization of local livelihoods.
