This agreement was planned with the purpose of supporting the cost of artificial joint surgery for elderly people who cannot receive treatment due to financial difficulties or who are in medical blind spots, helping them receive timely surgery for knee osteoarthritis, a representative geriatric disease, and supporting a healthy lifestyle in old age.

Through the agreement between the two organizations on this day, the city will identify and recommend candidates for medical expense support, and the foundation will secure funds such as surgery cost support, aiming to effectively lead the project through organic mutual cooperation.

The support targets are residents aged 60 or older in the jurisdiction who are basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class and diagnosed with diseases recognized under health insurance benefits for 'artificial joint replacement surgery.' Surgery costs of 1.2 million KRW per knee will be supported up to a maximum of 2.4 million KRW, covering examination fees, consultation fees, and surgery fees corresponding to the patient's share of the cost.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “With the increase in the elderly population due to population aging, we will do our best to discover and support various medical welfare services for health management in old age.”
