Laying the Foundation for Becoming a Global Marine Tourism City
Plans to Present Marine Leisure Program Measures and More
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter YGPA) will jointly hold the "1st Yeosu International Marine Tourism Forum" with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeonnam Province, and Yeosu City over two days on the 16th and 17th at the Yeosu Expo Center.
This forum, under the theme "Living Sea, Breathing Coastline (Subtitle: The Future of Marine and Spatial, A New Beginning)," is organized as a stepping stone for Yeosu City to leap forward as a global marine tourism city.

On the first day of the forum, the 16th, a special session will be held under the theme "Development and Promotion of Sustainable Culture in the Marine City Yeosu." On the second day, starting with the opening ceremony and keynote speeches, in-depth discussions will focus on ▲ measures to revitalize the local economy through the expansion of marine leisure facilities and development of marine tourism products ▲ building a smart marine city through international cooperation ▲ and strategies for preserving a resilient marine ecosystem against climate change.
In particular, the marine leisure session will present various development plans for marine leisure programs utilizing Yeosu's beautiful islands and coastline, while the smart marine city session will discuss ways to enhance tourist convenience using digital technology.
Park Seong-hyun, President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, stated, "The overall theme of this forum is sustainable marine tourism. It is an issue that marine cities around the world are highly interested in for developing new tourism markets," adding, "This will be an opportunity to share successful cases of sustainable marine city growth to support the future of marine tourism in Yeosu and to explore approaches to strengthen cooperation with marine tourism stakeholders."
Meanwhile, experts from 10 countries including France, the United States, Fiji, Norway, Japan, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and China will participate in this forum, along with international organizations such as the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), and UN/CEFACT (United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business).
