A local garden refers to a garden created by local governments under the Act on the Creation and Promotion of Arboretums and Gardens, and currently, the local garden in Gangwon-do is Yeongwol Dongseogang Garden Yeondangwon.

The Cheongoksan Milky Way Mountain Tourism Hub Construction project is a project promoted from 2022 to 2026 to create a local garden to revitalize mountain tourism and expand the resident population in response to local extinction. It will establish convenience and experience facilities such as a wildflower theme garden, garden management facilities, an information center, a healing observatory, and forest trails.

Currently, the detailed design and various permit application documents are in the final stages of preparation, and around mid-this month, an application for approval of the local garden creation plan will be submitted to Gangwon-do, with garden construction expected to begin in the first half of next year.
