Installation of AI Stethoscope Unmanned Kiosks at One Location per Dong, 16 Dong-Based Senior Centers
AI-Based Senior Health Management Program for 1,000 Senior Users at Senior Centers
Guro-gu will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) stethoscope unmanned kiosks at 16 community senior centers starting this month.
Since April, the district has been preparing for the ‘2024 Testbed Seoul Demonstration Support Project’ contest, led by the Seoul Business Agency, through public-private cooperation with Doctors Biotech Co., Ltd. and the Guro-gu branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, and was finally selected as a demonstration institution in August.
Accordingly, the district will implement an AI-based senior health management program using AI stethoscope unmanned kiosks for 1,000 elderly users of senior centers by December next year.
The AI stethoscope unmanned kiosk measures the user’s respiratory sounds, respiratory rate, and heart rate using AI after a preliminary questionnaire; the user places the respiratory device on their chest and breathes, allowing the system to detect abnormal respiratory sounds before pneumonia develops.
This not only enables timely treatment but also helps maintain the health and longevity of seniors by early detection of pneumonia, which has a high mortality rate.
The AI stethoscope unmanned kiosks will be installed at one senior center in each of the following 16 neighborhoods: △ Sindorim-dong (Woosung 3rd) △ Guro 1-dong (Guil Woosung) △ Guro 2-dong (Guro 2-dong) △ Guro 3-dong (Guro 3-dong) △ Guro 4-dong (Guro 4-dong Welfare Center) △ Guro 5-dong (Mirinae) △ Garibong-dong (Hogukbohun Guro) △ Gocheok 1-dong (Gurip Gukhwa) △ Gocheok 2-dong (Deokui) △ Gaebong 1-dong (Baekgok) △ Gaebong 2-dong (Gaebong 2-dong) △ Gaebong 3-dong (Gaebong 3-dong) △ Oryu 1-dong (Happiness Housing) △ Oryu 2-dong (Ojeong) △ Sugung-dong (Onsu) △ Hang-dong (Gurip Arboretum).
In relation to this, on December 12, Guro-gu Public Health Center held a project briefing session for representatives of the senior centers, explaining the project’s purpose, operation plan, and the functions of the unmanned kiosks.
During the briefing, the unmanned kiosks were demonstrated so that attendees could directly experience the AI respiratory examination.
The installation of the unmanned kiosks will proceed sequentially starting this month.
Additionally, professional instructors will be dispatched to the community senior centers to operate health management programs such as pneumonia prevention and mobile smoking cessation clinics.
Using various channels and materials, the district will also focus on promoting the importance of respiratory examinations and pneumonia vaccinations during the winter season.
A Guro-gu official stated, “Through the AI unmanned kiosks, we expect not only early detection and management of respiratory diseases among seniors but also an overall improvement in their quality of life. We will continue to actively utilize advanced technologies to do our best in promoting the health of our residents.”
