Dobong-gu Completes Road Construction from Uidong to Ssangmun 1-dong... 6m Wide, 300m Long Road Built from Uidong 5-1 to Ssangmundong 494-1 Section
A road connecting Ui-dong in Gangbuk-gu to Ssangmun 1-dong in Dobong-gu has been established after 52 years.
The Dobong-gu Office (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that a road 6 meters wide and 300 meters long was constructed from Ui-dong 5-1 to Ssangmun-dong 494-1.
This section had been blocked by buildings and other structures, causing inconvenience for residents traveling between Dobong-gu and Gangbuk-gu.
The district expects that the new road will significantly reduce travel time between Dobong-gu and Gangbuk-gu and improve residents' convenience.
Since being designated as an urban planning facility in 1972, the road from Ui-dong 5-1 to Ssangmun-dong 494-1 had been a long-delayed project, and the district put considerable effort into its construction.
Following the implementation of the sunset clause for long-delayed urban planning facilities, the project was fully reviewed in 2019, and a phased plan was established. Considering building compensation and tenant relocation issues, the project section was divided and construction began.
By December 2023, part of the project was completed. However, construction was delayed in the remaining sections due to tenant relocation issues. Thanks to the district’s active efforts, these problems were resolved, and the entire road was completed by November 2024.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “The road construction has dramatically improved the road environment. We will continue to actively reflect residents’ voices to build a more efficient transportation network.”
