"Constitutional Court Must Promptly Accept Impeachment"
Members of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly collectively expressed their welcome regarding the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 15th, Jeonnam assembly members issued a statement saying, “The passage of the impeachment motion is a solemn judgment by the people to uphold the values of the Constitution and protect democracy, and it is a result achieved by the proud 2 million residents of Jeonnam.” They welcomed it as “a great day when democracy, which once again marks a significant milestone in the constitutional history of the Republic of Korea, has triumphed, and a great day when the people have won.”

They stated, “On the 3rd, due to Yoon Seok-yeol’s illegal declaration of martial law, the people were gripped by anxiety, and along with the decline in South Korea’s domestic and international credibility, economic instability such as rising exchange rates and falling stock prices occurred, causing the livelihood economy to collapse helplessly.” They evaluated, “Nationwide rallies demanding the passage of the impeachment motion erupted like wildfire, and finally, the passage of the impeachment motion clearly demonstrated that justice is alive in the Republic of Korea and that the people can stand up to and defeat immense power.”
They continued, “The matter has now moved to the Constitutional Court. We strongly urge the Constitutional Court to promptly accept the impeachment in accordance with the law and principles so that the illegal martial law incident, which will remain a shame in history, will never be repeated.”
Furthermore, they emphasized, “The investigative agencies must immediately arrest and detain Yoon Seok-yeol, the ringleader of the rebellion, and the main accomplices, conduct investigations, and bring them to justice to clearly show that justice lives in the Republic of Korea.”
Members of the Democratic Party of Korea, the Progressive Party, and the Justice Party in the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly participated in the announcement of the statement on this day.
