Ahn Cheol-soo: "No Reason for Lee Jae-myung's Judicial Process to Be Delayed"

As the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol passed the National Assembly plenary session, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, argued that judicial procedures against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, should proceed promptly.

On the 15th, Ahn stated on his social media (SNS), "There is no reason for the judicial procedures against Leader Lee Jae-myung to be delayed during the impeachment phase," adding, "The judiciary must promptly conclude the second trial within three months and the third trial also within three months, according to the '6, 3, 3' election law provisions specified by law."

He continued, "I hope this presidential impeachment will be the last in the history of the Republic of Korea’s constitutional government," and added, "I also deeply feel responsible and apologize to the people."

Ahn emphasized, "Now is the time for the ruling and opposition parties, as well as all citizens, to unite their efforts to overcome the crisis in the Republic of Korea," and said, "We must prioritize resolving urgent livelihood economy issues, the medical crisis, and other important livelihood matters, and work together to establish measures that revive the nation's future and growth engines." He then urged, "The major opposition party should stop the excessive impeachment of cabinet members and cooperate in state administration."

Ahn also said, "The Republic of Korea, which has simultaneously achieved industrialization and democratization, can overcome the current crisis and move toward a brighter future," adding, "It is time for all of us to unite our strength."
