Seungro Lee, Seongbuk-gu Mayor, "Doing Our Best for Residents' Safety as Top Priority" On the 14th, following the passage of the presidential impeachment motion, Seongbuk-gu immediately held an emergency executive meeting chaired by the district mayor and decided to fully activate the "Seongbuk-gu Resident Life Stability Special Task Force." Provided by Seongbuk-gu.

On the 14th, right after the impeachment motion was passed, the mayor held an emergency meeting with senior officials and stated, “In a situation where the central government’s leadership is absent, the local government steadfastly holding its ground itself carries significant symbolic meaning,” adding, “Let us alleviate residents’ anxiety and protect a safe daily life by ensuring the smooth progress of all Seongbuk-gu affairs and public services.”

The district immediately activated the “Seongbuk-gu Resident Life Stability Special Task Force” and decided to accelerate the implementation of special measures in five key areas: livelihood economy, vulnerable groups, disaster safety, medical health, and daily transportation.

Prior to this, on the 10th, the district had formed the “Seongbuk-gu Resident Life Stability Special Task Force” with the deputy mayor as the head to ensure stable public services in essential areas of residents’ lives. The special task force consists of five sectors, 10 main departments, and 11 cooperating departments, and will operate until the emergency situation ends.

The special measures to revitalize the livelihood economy focus on stabilizing residents’ lives amid the local economic downturn. To resolve difficulties faced by small business owners and SMEs, the district is actively considering postponing repayment of SME development loan support funds and expanding low-interest special loans for small business owners. It also plans to expedite the issuance of Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates and payback events to support the recovery of the local economy and stimulate consumption.

Special measures for vulnerable groups focus on identifying welfare blind spots and actively promoting livelihood support for low-income groups, the elderly and other health-vulnerable groups, and persons with disabilities, as well as activating welfare projects for marginalized groups during the year-end and New Year period. Through disaster safety special measures, the district will conduct facility inspections to prevent winter disasters such as heavy snow, cold waves, and fires, and protect disaster-vulnerable groups, concentrating on preventing casualties and minimizing inconvenience to residents.

Additionally, the district will implement medical health special measures such as establishing an emergency medical treatment system in preparation for increased medical demand during winter, and daily transportation special measures to minimize traffic inconvenience, including local cleanliness management like garbage collection and flexible enforcement of parking regulations.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “We have experience overcoming unexpected crises such as the massive spread of COVID-19 through solidarity within the local community,” and added, “To resolve the livelihood difficulties of local residents caused by the current domestic situation, including local economic downturn and residents’ anxiety, major organizations, related institutions, public institutions, and universities within the district will cooperate organically, and all public officials of Seongbuk-gu will do their utmost with extraordinary determination to fulfill their responsibilities and provide stable administrative services.”
