In the midst of national turmoil, the first priority for Mayor Jin was the people’s livelihoods. Mayor Jin stated, “In times of emergency, it is the duty and responsibility of public officials to carefully oversee district administration and a moral obligation to the residents,” adding, “Issues closely related to residents’ lives such as livelihoods, economy, and safety must be carried out as originally planned without disruption.” He continued, “Please devote all efforts solely to stabilizing people’s livelihoods, revitalizing the local economy, and supporting vulnerable groups.”
The district plans to intensively execute budgets for consumption and investment projects to stabilize livelihoods and revitalize the depressed local economy. Festivals and events hosted by the district will proceed normally, and administrative and financial support for small business owners and small and medium-sized enterprises will be strengthened.
Livelihood support and welfare projects for vulnerable groups such as low-income families, persons with disabilities, and the elderly will also be carried out without delay. Since the 10th, the district has established and operated a ‘Livelihood Stabilization Task Force’ composed of four teams focusing on livelihood stabilization, local economy, vulnerable group support, and safety management to minimize residents’ anxiety. Its main roles include implementing economic revitalization measures to stabilize prices, supporting the livelihoods of vulnerable groups, and managing major winter disasters and safety.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “Even in this grave situation, our public officials will work with greater responsibility to protect the lives of residents and maintain the stability of the local community,” and added, “We will quietly carry out our duties in our respective positions to ensure that residents’ daily lives remain undisturbed amid the current national situation.”
