LG Electronics announced on the 15th that it has supplied the residential living solution 'LG Smart Cottage,' which integrates artificial intelligence (AI) home appliances and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technology, to SM Entertainment.
On the 13th, LG Electronics and SM Entertainment held a completion ceremony for the LG Smart Cottage at SM’s training center in Gangwon Province. The ceremony was attended by Ryu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics HS Business Division; Lee Hyang-eun, Executive Director in charge of HS CX; Jo Yeon-woo, CEO of Smart Cottage Company; Jang Cheol-hyeok, CEO of SM Entertainment; and Han Ji-soo, CEO of SM Town Planner, among others.
LG Smart Cottage is a new-concept modular house that allows easy establishment of second homes in suburban or rural areas. It comes equipped as a standard option with LG Electronics’ heat pump HVAC system, which reduces energy consumption, and AI home appliances. By selecting the rooftop solar panel option, a significant portion of the required energy can be self-generated. Customers can choose between two types depending on shape and size: the single-story model 'Mono (MONO)' and the two-story model 'Duo (DUO).'

With the supply to SM’s training center, LG Electronics secured its first B2B customer since officially launching the Smart Cottage business in October. Starting from this, LG Electronics plans to increase B2B transactions by supplying Smart Cottages to corporations and organizations. Smart Cottages can be used not only as personal second homes but also for training centers, workshops, and cultural spaces.
Additionally, Smart Cottage is built using a prefab method where over 70% of materials such as modular structures, windows, wiring, bathrooms, and kitchen appliances are pre-manufactured and then delivered, enabling construction periods to be shortened by more than 50% compared to conventional reinforced concrete methods. In the future, LG plans to diversify modules to allow customized designs according to client needs and installation site conditions.
The Smart Cottage at SM’s training center, which will be used as an education and workshop space for SM Entertainment employees, consists of a total of three buildings: two Mono units and one Duo unit. The SM training center Smart Cottage was designed and arranged to maximize reflection of the surrounding natural environment and site characteristics. In particular, it was planned to allow views of nearby mountains and rivers from inside.
Lee Hyang-eun, in charge of HS CX at LG Electronics, said, "LG Smart Cottage is an innovative residential living solution that integrates space, AI home appliances, and services. We will propose it diversely to both general customers and B2B clients, leading new changes in the construction industry."
