Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, announced on the 14th (local time) that he has appointed his 'diplomatic strategist,' former Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, as a special envoy for specific missions. Grenell will be responsible for special tasks, including North Korea affairs.
In a post on the social networking service (SNS) Truth Social, Trump said, "I am pleased to announce Richard Grenell as the President's envoy for special missions," adding, "Rick (Richard's nickname) will handle some of the hottest areas around the world, including Venezuela and North Korea."
Grenell served as the Ambassador to Germany and Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) during the first term of the Trump administration. He is considered a close aide and diplomatic strategist for President-elect Trump.
