On the morning of the 15th, Acting President Han Duck-soo consulted with President Biden via phone about domestic affairs, the South Korea-U.S. alliance, and the North Korean nuclear issue. He explained that future state affairs will be conducted strictly in accordance with the constitution and laws, and stated that the government will carry out its diplomatic and security policies without any setbacks.
Acting President Han emphasized, "We will strive to ensure that the South Korea-U.S. alliance continues to be maintained and developed without any wavering," adding, "In the face of the North Korean nuclear threat and the deepening Russia-North Korea cooperation that both countries are confronting, it is more important than ever to strengthen the South Korea-U.S. combined defense posture."
President Biden expressed his trust in South Korea's democracy and praised its resilience. He also conveyed that the ironclad South Korea-U.S. alliance remains unchanged and that he will work together with South Korea to advance South Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation.
