Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has announced an emergency livelihood economic measure to minimize regional impacts following the passage of the presidential impeachment motion and to alleviate citizens' anxiety and inconvenience.

On the 14th, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, convened an emergency executive meeting to share plans to respond to the anticipated economic repercussions after the passage of the presidential impeachment motion.
A city official stated, “There is a high possibility that difficulties in the livelihood economy will continue due to the unstable political situation,” adding, “We aim to quickly overcome the current situation by strengthening the role of public finances as a catalyst.”
Changwon City has urgently allocated a reserve fund of 4.8 billion KRW to prepare detailed support measures targeting small business owners, self-employed individuals, and vulnerable groups.
Specifically, the measures to be urgently implemented within the year include ▲additional issuance of 30 billion KRW worth of Nubijeon cards (3.3 billion KRW) ▲additional execution of 15 billion KRW loans for small business promotion funds (1.3 billion KRW) ▲temporary expansion of support for low-income vulnerable groups (200 million KRW).
Furthermore, tourism and cultural events scheduled for the year-end and New Year period will proceed as planned, and cooperation with public officials and businesses will be pursued to stimulate consumption and revitalize the local economy.
The city plans to complete the execution of this year’s budget within the year, prioritize early execution in the first half of next year, and consider an additional budget review for the first quarter of next year if necessary.
Mayor Hong said, “We will take more meticulous care of livelihoods to ensure that citizens experience no anxiety or inconvenience in their daily lives,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that administrative services directly related to citizens’ lives, such as economy, welfare, and safety, are provided without disruption.”
