The first tomato harvest has taken place at Building A of the youth startup farmer rental smart farm operated by the Dangjin City Agricultural Technology Center in Chungnam.
Four young farmers are currently running this smart farm, with a goal of harvesting 100kg per pyeong this year. Last year, the yield was 81kg per pyeong.
The harvested tomatoes are of the European variety TY Trust, which is known for its excellent quality and high marketability.
Dangjin City is providing various forms of support to help young people settle stably in agriculture through smart farms.
The smart farm leased by the young farmers is equipped with advanced facilities such as an integrated environmental control system and an air-source heat pump, which optimize the crop growth environment and improve productivity.
In addition, professional education and consulting are offered so that the young farmers can gain experience in both management and cultivation practices.
A city official stated, "We are supporting the stable settlement of young startup farmers through the smart farm project," and added, "We will continue to provide support so that young farmers can lead the future of agriculture."
