Thorough Preparations to Prevent Citizen Inconvenience, Will Wisely Overcome Crisis Together with Citizens

On the 14th, Pohang City convened an emergency meeting chaired by Mayor Lee Kang-deok following the passage of the presidential impeachment bill in the National Assembly to discuss measures for stabilizing the local economy and community.

At the meeting, Mayor Lee urged efforts to ▲steadily advance current issues and establish public service discipline ▲alleviate public anxiety through communication with citizens ▲implement measures to stabilize the local economy and the livelihoods of ordinary people ▲protect vulnerable groups and thoroughly manage citizen safety.

The mayor ordered public officials to maintain an emergency duty posture and respond comprehensively to ensure social stability, while also ensuring that various local projects proceed as planned without disruption.

In particular, with rising concerns about the local industry and economic crisis, he expressed worries about a contraction in consumer sentiment and encouraged active promotion of ‘good consumption’ within the region to foster a healthy consumer culture.

Immediately after the meeting, Mayor Lee issued a statement on the passage of the presidential impeachment bill in the National Assembly, pledging to do his utmost for the safety of citizens and the stability of the local community.

He emphasized that despite the chaotic national situation, the city administration will proceed without wavering and devote all efforts to protecting the economy and people’s livelihoods.

Additionally, essential public services and welfare systems for citizen safety will be provided as usual, and thorough preparations will be made to ensure that citizens do not experience inconvenience under any crisis situation.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang said, “If the citizens of Pohang unite their strength, any crisis can be wisely overcome,” and added, “We will carry out city administration without disruption to ensure the safety of citizens and the stability of the local community.”

Since the 9th, Pohang City has formed and begun operating a ‘Regional Stability Task Force’ led by the deputy mayor. The task force, composed of four teams focusing on regional stability, local economy, vulnerable groups, and economic revitalization, is concentrating administrative efforts to protect the local economy and people’s livelihoods.
