Foreign Media Urgently Reports Passage of Yoon Impeachment Motion Yonhap News

As the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol passed the National Assembly on the 14th, major foreign media quickly reported the news.

AP News reported, "The South Korean National Assembly approved the impeachment motion with 204 votes in favor and 85 against." AFP News also reported, "The South Korean National Assembly passed the impeachment of President Yoon related to the declaration of martial law."

The New York Times (NYT) also covered the passage of the impeachment motion, stating, "According to the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will assume presidential powers going forward."

CNN stated, "President Yoon is the second South Korean leader in the past decade (after former President Park Geun-hye) to face impeachment proceedings while in office, and his exercise of authority will be suspended until the Constitutional Court issues its final ruling."

Earlier, foreign media closely followed the voting situation on the impeachment motion in real time from the afternoon, keenly awaiting the results.

The British daily The Guardian posted an article at the top of its homepage in the afternoon titled 'South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol Faces Second Impeachment Vote,' providing detailed coverage of the National Assembly voting process.

British broadcaster BBC set up a real-time news section in the center of its homepage, reporting on the gathering crowds in front of the National Assembly even before the vote.
