Park Chan-dae "Yoon Impeachment Vote, Every Single Vote is Earnestly... I Expect"

"If the ruling party receives double-digit approval or higher"

Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed on the 14th that he "expects" the impeachment vote against President Yoon Seok-yeol. He anticipates that some members of the People Power Party will support the motion, leading to its approval. However, he also reaffirmed his intention to push for impeachment again if the motion is rejected.

After a closed-door Supreme Council meeting on the same day, Park met with reporters and, when asked about the voting outlook, said, "Every single vote is desperately needed," adding, "We have internally checked the votes and discussed the details, but we are cautious. We are hopeful."

Park predicted, "It seems difficult for the People Power Party to abstain from voting." He said, "The shocking attempt at an unlawful martial law must have come as a shock not only to the public but also to People Power Party members who were completely unaware of the details," and added, "Although we argue with People Power Party members over political disputes, I believe they will make a decision considering only the interests of the Republic of Korea." He continued, "I hope they fill the double digits enough to pass the motion without having too high expectations."

He stated, "Since the approval or rejection has not been decided yet, we cannot make assumptions," but added, "Even if it is rejected, we will not be discouraged and will unite until the motion is passed and see it through."

Currently, seven members of the People Power Party have expressed support for the impeachment. The number of seats required to pass the impeachment is 200, and even when combining opposition and independent members (192 seats), it still falls short by one seat.
