Hong Jun-pyo: "If Yoon is impeached, all traitors within the People Power Party must be expelled"

On the 14th, as the second vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol is set to take place, Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, asserted that if the impeachment motion passes, all the traitors must be expelled.

On the 13th, Mayor Hong stated on his social media account, "If tomorrow the impeachment motion passes due to the betrayal of Han Dong-hoon and the lemmings, the leadership should resign en masse." He continued, "Expel all the traitors except for the proportional representatives," and emphasized, "Can we continue politics with immature rebel lemmings who might betray us again? If only 90 members unite, we can overcome the impeachment crisis."

Additionally, in another post, he expressed his dismay, saying, "Generals who spill secrets without being asked, adding falsehoods just to survive," and "Ministers who regret becoming ministers, cabinet members and related parties busy denying responsibility. To think such people have been acting as the real powers of this administration. To think the administration was run with such people." He concluded, "Could this administration have avoided misfortune? Even gangsters don't act like this. I have nothing more to say."

On the same day, at the opening ceremony of the Daegu Metropolitan Railroad (Daegyeong Line) held at Seodaegu Station plaza, Mayor Hong told reporters, "Betrayers keep emerging, so the impeachment is likely to pass." When asked if the political situation would become very chaotic after the impeachment passes, he replied, "Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is prudent and experienced, so the government will remain stable," adding, "If even Prime Minister Han is prevented from acting as the interim president, it would cause a major setback to the Democratic Party's presidential election strategy."

Earlier, on the 11th, Mayor Hong compared the People Power Party lawmakers who joined the impeachment motion proposed by the opposition to a type of rodent called lemmings, saying on his SNS, "Unlike during Park Geun-hye's time, the lemmings participating in this impeachment should be expelled from the party if they do not leave voluntarily. Regardless of whether the impeachment is right or wrong, joining the impeachment in collusion with the opposition should only happen once, as it did during Park Geun-hye's era." He added, "This party has some lemmings, so impeachment may be inevitable, but the first thing to do after impeachment is to reorganize the party. Even with just 90 seats, we can contest the presidential election and recreate the administration." He also stated, "Lemmings who join the criminal Lee Jae-myung must be expelled and removed from the party. I cannot do politics with such people."
