Na Kyung-won: "Kim Eo-jun and the Democratic Party Reproduce Fake News... It's Too Early for Impeachment"

Kim Eo-jun Attending Science and ICT Committee: "Report of Han Dong-hoon Assassination"
Na Kyung-won: "Inaccurate Information, One-sided Claims Rampant"
"Opposing Impeachment, Inciting People as Accomplice to Treason"

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea and progressive YouTuber Kim Eo-jun, saying they "reproduce rumors and fake news."

On the 13th, Na opened her remarks on her social media account, saying, "Yesterday, a 64-year-old female resident in our area was on her way to the market when she spoke to protesters blocking the street, asking, 'Is impeachment really that easy?' She was then grabbed by the collar and thrown down by a young protester in his 20s, sustaining serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment."

She said, "This victim is a decent citizen who holds different opinions from the protesters and is not even a member of the People Power Party. How can this lawless violent protest be tolerated as it is?" She added, "Inaccurate information and one-sided claims are rampant, and everyone is becoming overheated." She continued, "Kim Eo-jun and the Democratic Party spread baseless reports, reproduce rumors and fake news, and incite people," asserting, "However, many news reports that poured out during former President Park Geun-hye's impeachment were later revealed to be fake news."

Na said, "Even if the declaration of martial law was a wrong choice, we need time to further examine how much of what the president stated in his address is close to the substantive truth. Despite this situation, Speaker Woo Won-shik seems determined to intimidate our party members tomorrow along with external forces." She criticized, "The impeachment motion will be submitted to the plenary session in line with the time of the impeachment rally tomorrow. They are inciting the public by shouting that 'those opposing impeachment are accomplices to treason.'" She also emphasized, "It is too early now. We need more time to calmly and rationally discern what is fake and what is true and deliberate. Moreover, the Constitutional Court, which will judge the impeachment, has not yet been fully constituted."

She further stated, "Opposing impeachment is not about protecting President Yoon Seok-youl, but about protecting the Republic of Korea and the free democratic basic order. Hasty decisions can lead to irreversible national and public tragedies." In conclusion, she added, "We must seek reason and order and, with the ruling party's heavy responsibility, work together to create the most orderly and responsible measures for recovery in accordance with the constitution and laws for the people and the country."

Earlier, Kim Eo-jun appeared as a witness before the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee, stating, "Not all facts have been confirmed," and revealed, "I received a report that Han Dong-hoon, the People Power Party leader, who was being arrested and transferred, was to be shot, and that the incident was to be framed as North Korea's act." Subsequently, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, told reporters, "It is an absurd matter," but also said, "It is a group that could have planned such a thing."
