This award was given in recognition of outstanding performance throughout the entire process, including the dementia early screening project, dementia prevention project, dementia patient management, and family service support projects, based on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s operational evaluation and dementia management project performance evaluation conducted for 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.

Since opening the Dementia Safety Center in March 2019, Guri City has promoted a visiting dementia screening project based on comprehensive publicity, achieving the early completion of the dementia early screening project goals. It also strengthened support systems by utilizing Memory Love Keepers and improved service accessibility through the operation of regional shelters.

In addition, linked with one of the region’s representative events, the ‘Guri Canola Flower Festival,’ a united walking event based on harmony between local residents and elderly dementia patients was held, receiving positive evaluations. The city also published a poetry picture book titled “I Went to Pick Mugwort but Came Back with a Bundle of Weeds,” which captures the lives and wisdom of elderly dementia patients, and held a book concert at the ‘Dementia Overcoming Day’ event, earning high praise from seniors and citizens alike.

In the second half of this year, based on a business agreement with the National Health Insurance Service, Guri City activated the linkage of dementia service support projects through public-private cooperation projects such as early dementia screening, dementia treatment cost support, provision of care supplies, and customized case management, contributing to the creation of a dementia-friendly environment for dementia management of local residents.

Guri City (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) stated, “We have achieved meaningful results in various fields, including the early achievement of mandatory pre-screening goals and improvement in service rates for patient and family support projects.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to build a system for elderly dementia patients by linking various resources based on organic and systematic public-private cooperation and to realize a happy dementia-safe city free from dementia worries.”
