Please inform us about neighbors in need around you

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 13th that it will operate the "Winter Welfare Blind Spot Intensive Discovery and Support Period" from the 16th of this month until February 28th of next year to prepare for cold waves and heavy snowfall.

The intensive discovery targets include ▲ Ministry of Health and Welfare lists and system-utilized self-planned discovery targets using big data welfare recipient discovery systems ▲ low-income and emergency welfare single-person youth households ▲ long-term utility bill defaulters, crisis-suspected reporters from police and fire stations, and other department and agency requests ▲ crisis households identified through resident reports by neighborhood ▲ housing-vulnerable groups living in goshiwon, semi-basements, etc. In addition, socially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, children, and homeless people will be discovered and supported.

To this end, Uijeongbu City has formed a dedicated task force (TF) for intensive discovery and support of crisis households to establish customized protection plans for vulnerable groups by department and conduct safety inspections of social welfare facilities.

Furthermore, welfare blind spot discovery notices will be sent to institutions obligated to report crisis households. Each neighborhood will promote its own specialized projects such as campaigns to discover crisis households, and will take the lead in discovering welfare blind spots by utilizing the local safety network centered on the neighborhood community security council and Happy Bridge (Honorary Social Welfare Officers).

Discovered crisis households will be linked with various private resources received through the activation of a donation culture along with public support such as customized benefits. For recipients with complex and diverse needs that are difficult to resolve with these supports alone, they will be selected as integrated case management subjects for continuous management and support.

An official from Uijeongbu City said, "We will do our best to timely discover and support those in welfare blind spots during the cold winter," and added, "If you know or find neighbors in difficulty, please actively report to the City Welfare Policy Division, resident centers, or the Gyeonggi Province telephone counseling center (call center)."
