Yeongju-si, Completion Ceremony for 213 Farmers' Specialized Training

Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk held the '2024 Agricultural Professional Training Completion Ceremony' on the 13th at the Agricultural Technology Center's main lecture hall.


This training, which began on March 12, aims to cultivate professional farmers who practice rational farm management and scientific farming. After a long-term training course covering crop-specific policies, management, distribution, cultivation management theory, and field education, 110 participants completed the Apple Dense Planting Course, and 103 completed the Apple School Course on this day.

The Apple School, an introductory apple course, was conducted step-by-step in an easy-to-understand manner, covering orchard establishment guidelines, key farming practices by season, pruning methods, and pest and disease control techniques. The Agricultural University’s Apple Dense Planting Course provided advanced content on future-oriented apple cultivation systems, dense orchard establishment, the latest trends, and overseas advanced apple cultivation technologies.


According to a survey of trainees, the satisfaction rate was 93.8%, and farming skills improved by 31.7% when comparing before and after the training.


At the completion ceremony, Kim Tae-eon (66 years old) from Bonghyeon-myeon, who had a high attendance rate during the training period and showed exemplary leadership in trainee self-governance activities, received the Rural Development Administration Commissioner’s Commendation. Outstanding trainees were also selected for each course (Kwon Ki-suk from Agricultural University, Ahn Kwang-ho from Apple School) and awarded the Yeongju Mayor’s Commendation.


Mayor Park Nam-seo said, “I sincerely congratulate all trainees who completed the training despite their busy farming schedules over the past year,” and added, “I hope you grow into professional leaders who will lead sustainable future agriculture.”


Since 2008, Yeongju Agricultural University has produced over 50 top professional farmers annually through 17 sessions, specializing in livestock, fruit trees, and eco-friendly farming, playing a significant role in enhancing regional agricultural competitiveness and increasing farm household income.
