Busan City-Funded Institutions Achieve Results in Strengthening Fair Recruitment Practices

Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP, Director Kim Young-bu) was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution for Fair Recruitment in the Second Half of 2024’ by the Korea Management Certification Institute on the 12th, earning fair recruitment certification for the second consecutive year.

The ‘Fair Recruitment Certification System’ organized by the Korea Management Certification Institute is a system that grants certification to institutions that exemplarily operate fair recruitment centered on job competency by excluding biased factors in hiring.

The evaluation covers 59 items across three categories: △Recruitment System △Recruitment Operation △Recruitment Performance. Additionally, the renewal certification approval criteria that BISTEP met (800 points or higher out of 1000) are stricter than the initial certification approval criteria (700 points or higher out of 1000).

Since 2017, BISTEP has conducted blind recruitment focused on job competency and introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) competency assessment system into the recruitment process in 2020 to enhance fairness and objectivity. Through this, BISTEP not only maintained fair recruitment certification for two consecutive years but was also recognized for ‘establishing a strict recruitment standard process and operating a fair recruitment procedure’ through the itemized evaluation of this assessment.

Director Kim Young-bu of BISTEP stated, “We will strive to become an institution that leads the establishment of a fair recruitment culture by hiring talent suitable for the job through fair systems and transparent procedures.”

The certification ceremony for the Fair Recruitment Excellence Institution was held for the Busan Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology Higher Education.
