Gangwon Pyeongchang-gun Successfully Hosts Volunteer Conference

On the 12th, over 500 participants gathered... A time of gratitude and encouragement

On the 12th, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Shim Jae-guk) announced that the Pyeongchang Volunteer Center held the ‘2024 Pyeongchang-gun Volunteer Conference’ at the Pyeongchang National Sports Center, attended by over 500 key guests and volunteers.

This conference was organized to commemorate the International Volunteer Day designated by the UN (December 5th), to raise public interest in volunteer activities, and to express gratitude and encouragement to volunteers who have dedicated themselves to the development of the local community in various fields throughout the year.


At the event, Shim Jae-guk, Governor of Pyeongchang-gun, Nam Jin-sam, Chairman of the Pyeongchang-gun Council, Song Geun-jik, Director of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Volunteer Center, along with heads of institutions and organizations within Pyeongchang-gun and volunteers gathered for a meaningful time.


In particular, several volunteer groups including ▲Kkumkkuneun Songeulssi Volunteer Group (President Cheon Hee-chan) ▲Pyeongchang KkoB7 (President Choi Soon-mi) ▲Pyeongchang-gun Volunteer Coaches (President Kwon Hyo-young) ▲Bbangbbang Sarang Volunteer Group (President Jeong Kyung-mi) participated, showcasing a variety of programs such as congratulatory performances, awards for distinguished volunteer activities, photo exhibitions, and distribution of calligraphy calendars, further enhancing the atmosphere of the conference.


At the awards ceremony, among the 129 recipients of commendations from the Governor, Chairman of the Provincial Council, Governor of the County, Chairman of the County Council, Members of the National Assembly, Police Station, Fire Station, and Education Office, 45 were awarded as representatives.


Ko Hong-jae, Director of the Pyeongchang Volunteer Center, expressed in his conference address, “I sincerely thank the volunteers of Pyeongchang-gun who have devoted themselves to the community through sharing and volunteering throughout this year.”


Shim Jae-guk, Governor of Pyeongchang-gun, who attended to encourage the conference, said, “The dedication of volunteers spreads positive influence in the local community and becomes a great strength,” expressing gratitude to the volunteers who are creating a better world through their service.
