Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, urgently ordered the party's Ethics Committee (Ethics Committee) to be convened for the expulsion and removal of President Yoon Seok-yeol from the party immediately after President Yoon's public address on the 12th. Accordingly, the Ethics Committee plans to hold a meeting at 10 p.m. that day at the People Power Party Central Party Office in Yeouido to discuss matters related to President Yoon's expulsion and removal from the party.

On the same day, Han told reporters at the National Assembly, "I did not expect such a statement at all," adding, "I believe it has become even clearer that President Yoon cannot carry out his presidential duties."

He continued, "As part of the impeachment process, the president's execution of duties must be promptly organized and suspended," and said, "Our party must support impeachment as the party's official stance."

The People Power Party's party constitution and regulations stipulate that in cases such as "when a member commits acts extremely harmful to the party" or "violates current laws, party constitution, regulations, or ethics rules causing hindrance to party development or resulting in loss of public support," disciplinary actions such as expulsion or recommendation to leave the party can be taken after a resolution by the Ethics Committee and approval by the Supreme Council.

In his public address that day, President Yoon stated, "The emergency martial law measure is a highly political judgment of the president," and questioned, "How could the president's constitutional decision and act of governance be considered rebellion?" He further declared, "Whether impeached or investigated, I will face it with confidence."
