The event was organized by Yangpyeong-gun and the Community Chest of Korea Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest to spread a culture of sharing during the winter season and to create a happy and warm Yangpyeong for all. This was the second event held since the unveiling ceremony of the Love Temperature Tower last December.
The event was attended by guests including Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun; Hwang Seon-ho, Chairman of the Yangpyeong County Council; Choi In-seong, Director; Lee Kyung-hak, Chairman of the Yangpyeong-gun Community Security Council; Kim Hyo-jin, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest; and about 100 donors. The program proceeded in the order of greetings and congratulatory speeches, unveiling of the Love Temperature Tower, and donation delivery ceremonies (Part 1 and Part 2).
During the donation delivery ceremony, about 100 participants from 87 local residents, businesses, institutions, and organizations who practiced warm neighborly love donated cash and goods worth approximately 178 million KRW.
This year, the goal amount for the ‘Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Love Temperature Tower’ in Yangpyeong-gun is 200 million KRW. The temperature rises by 1 degree each time an amount equivalent to 1% of the sharing goal is collected, and when the goal is achieved, the temperature reaches 100 degrees. At this event, the sharing temperature reached 88 degrees with donations and goods delivered from various sectors within the county.
Governor Jeon Jin-seon said, “Despite the unfavorable economic situation, I deeply thank everyone who has shown warm interest and extended helping hands to the neighbors in need in Yangpyeong. We will continue to strive to make Yangpyeong a happy and warm place for all.”
Kim Hyo-jin, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest, said, “I hope that the Love Temperature Tower in Yangpyeong will surpass 100 degrees through Yangpyeong’s warm interest and sharing practices for neighbors in need. We will also work to ensure that the collected donations are properly delivered to the vulnerable groups in Yangpyeong-gun.”
The county plans to continue the sharing campaign under the slogan “Make Myself Valuable Through Donation, Make Yangpyeong Valuable Through Donation” until January 31 of next year. The donated funds will be used through the Community Chest of Korea Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest for winter heating support for vulnerable groups and customized welfare projects supporting low-income vulnerable groups.
