District Mayor I Pil-hyung Visits Vulnerable Housing Facilities on the 11th for Safety Inspection
Collaborates with Fire Safety Center and Specialized Agencies to Prevent Winter Fires
Lee Pil-hyung, the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, visited a small-scale lodging facility located in Jeonnong-dong on the 11th to conduct a safety inspection aimed at preventing fires during the winter season.
This inspection was organized in response to a fire accident at a boarding house that occurred on November 11, with the goal of strengthening the safety of aging boarding houses and goshiwons primarily inhabited by low-income residents.
The inspection was attended by the head of the 119 Fire Safety Center and the chief of the Jeonnong 1-dong police station, and they discussed improvement measures for fire prevention based on opinions from the fire department and related experts.
Mayor Lee carefully checked the installation of fire extinguishers and the condition of fire prevention facilities, and instructed the replacement of worn or aged electrical wiring.
Dongdaemun-gu is conducting safety inspections on a total of 15 boarding houses and goshiwons with poor facilities until December 20. Korea Electrical Safety Corporation and Yesco Co., Ltd. are cooperating to inspect the safety of electrical and gas facilities, making thorough efforts to prevent fires during the winter season.
Mayor Lee said, “Safety management of vulnerable residential facilities is even more important during the winter when the use of heating appliances increases the risk of fire,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that residents living in environments vulnerable to fire and safety hazards can spend a warm winter without accidents.”
