Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, warmly welcomed Shim Deok-seop, Mayor of Gochang County, and residents who visited Mapo on the morning of December 12 as part of the ‘Sister City Awareness’ exchange cooperation project.
Mapo District has established a sister city relationship with Gochang County and continues active exchanges through annual direct agricultural product trade events and invitations to various representative festivals.
About 20 people, including Shim Deok-seop, Mayor of Gochang County, and residents visiting Mapo, were introduced to Mapo’s hospitality and local administrative issues, and toured the Oil Tank Culture Park, Poet’s Street, pet camping site, filial piety meal side dish factory, and the Mapo Citizens’ Sports Center, which is open 365 days a year.
This event is scheduled for one night and two days. On the following day, December 13, Mapo District plans to introduce its unique cultural tourism resources by visiting Yanghwajin Park, connected to Hapjeong Sky Road, and Hongdae Red Road, a representative tourist attraction of Mapo, together with officials from Gochang County.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, “Despite the busy year-end, I sincerely welcome Mayor Shim Deok-seop and the residents of Gochang County who visited Mapo with special affection for our sister city,” and added, “I hope that Gochang and Mapo will continue to actively exchange and interact, growing together as future partners.”
