Kim Dahyun, the fairy of Korean traditional trot music, donated 3 million won to Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, on the 12th to support local cultural and artistic promotion.
Ms. Kim, who hails from Cheonghak-dong, has been recognized for her outstanding talent through competition programs such as Voice Trot, Miss Trot 2, and Active King of Songs, and is currently thriving as a global singer.
The donation ceremony held at the reception room of Changwon Special City Hall was attended by Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, and Jo Myungrae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, who received Kim Dahyun’s donation.
Ms. Kim Dahyun said, “Since my debut in 2020, I have always felt the need to give back even a little of the interest and love many people have shown me,” adding, “I believe the energy that audiences convey every time I take the stage is based on the ‘heung’ (excitement) built up by local culture and arts, and I hope this donation can be a small help in efforts to promote local cultural arts.”
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “We appreciate Ms. Kim Dahyun’s interest in promoting our local culture and arts, and the donation will be used to support youth who are nurturing their dreams through cultural and artistic activities in the region,” adding, “The cherry blossom scent spreading from Dahyun’s stage and audience will likely become a good omen for Changwon City. We look forward to her vigorous activities.”
The official color of singer Kim Dahyun’s fan club, ‘Eolssigudahyun,’ is cherry blossom pink, which matches the city flower of Changwon, the cherry blossom, symbolizing the cultural and artistic passion of Kim Dahyun conveyed in a fitting color.
Meanwhile, the city plans to transfer the donation to the Changwon Cultural Foundation to be used for the activities of the Dream Orchestra, composed of youth members.
