‘2-Year Prison Sentence’ Cho Kuk, Prosecution: "Enforce Sentence Following Procedure... Summons by Tomorrow" Yonhap News

The prosecution plans to notify Jo Guk, leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, who has been sentenced to two years in prison, to voluntarily report for sentence execution by the 13th.

On the 12th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office stated, "Since the defendant Jo Guk has been confirmed to serve a two-year prison sentence, the prosecution will promptly execute the sentence according to the Criminal Procedure Act and related regulations following the usual procedures."

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office plans to issue a summons requiring Jo to appear by the 13th, based on a request from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office for sentence execution in accordance with relevant regulations.

Typically, investigative agencies require defendants with confirmed sentences to appear voluntarily, and if they do not comply, they forcibly secure their custody. On the same day, the Supreme Court finalized the ruling sentencing Jo, who was indicted on charges including 'admission fraud involving his children' and 'cover-up of Blue House inspection,' to two years in prison.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the prosecution's Trial Division 5 (Chief Prosecutor Jeong Il-gwon) at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office is continuing the investigation into allegations of admission fraud related to Jo Guk's son, Jo Won, concerning graduate school admissions.
