Kim Min-seok: "Yoon's Statement Is an Expression of Extreme Delusion and a Declaration of War Against the People"

Kim Min-seok, Chair of the Special Countermeasure Committee on the Yoon Seok-yeol Internal Revolt and a Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 12th, immediately after President Yoon's national address, that "the statement claiming that a failed martial law was planned in violation of the constitution and laws to protect the constitutional order is an expression of extreme delusion, a confession of illegal martial law activation, and a declaration of war against the people."

In the Democratic Party's position announcement on President Yoon's address that day, Supreme Council Member Kim said, "With this morning's address, Yoon Seok-yeol's mental state has been reconfirmed at this moment."

He dismissed the president's remarks by saying, "(President Yoon) already had impeachment in mind and pre-read the gist of the Constitutional Court's conclusion to incite far-right unrest." Furthermore, he argued, "He publicly ordered the destruction of evidence by those involved, and the appropriate action for the state and the National Assembly regarding Yoon Seok-yeol is an orderly impeachment."

Supreme Council Member Kim urged, "The People Power Party should immediately decide on a free vote for impeachment. The National Assembly will unite to pass Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment on the 14th, as demanded by the people," adding, "We believe the Constitutional Court will minimize the time for national normalization by making a swift impeachment decision."

Earlier that day, in an unplanned national address, President Yoon said regarding martial law, "When the Democratic Party said they would impeach the prosecutors investigating their corruption and the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, I judged that I could no longer just stand by."

Cho Seung-rae, the Democratic Party's chief spokesperson, met with reporters immediately after the party's position announcement and said, "After watching the recent address, as Chair Kim Min-seok defined, President Yoon's condition seems very serious, and he showed this openly before the entire nation," emphasizing, "We will prepare and respond with utmost resolve until the impeachment is passed in the National Assembly."
